On Thursday 6th November 2025, CRITT Horticole was delighted to host the second steering committee meeting (COPIL) for the EPURE project – Operational Estimation of Adaptation Solutions to Urban Heat Island Effects. Bringing together all the partners and subcontractors, this meeting marks a further key milestone in the implementation of this inter-technical centre project supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region.
Strong support for the climate transition
All members of the consortium – technical centres, industrial partners, engineering consultancies and specialist organisations – were present to review the project’s collective progress. This diversity of stakeholders underlines EPURE’s ambition: to develop a practical method for evaluating solutions to urban heat island effects, by combining expertise in vegetation, building energy performance and feedback from real-world applications.
A proven collective dynamic
The discussions helped to consolidate the areas of work already underway, identify the adjustments to be made and coordinate priorities for the coming months. The complementary nature of the expertise involved – TIPEE for building engineering and modelling, CRITT Horticole for plant-related expertise, manufacturers for providing solutions, and engineering consultancies for environmental analysis – has once again proved its value.

A key step for the future
This steering committee meeting provided an opportunity to refine the overall project timetable, prepare for the next phases of the experiments, and strengthen coordination around short-term actions, in particular the installation of the demonstrator, the continuation of modelling work and the development of communication tools – including the creation of the project website, led by CRITT Horticole.
The next in-person steering committee meeting will be scheduled for early July 2026 in order to build on the momentum gained and ensure joint monitoring of progress.
